Welcome to the 11th Annual Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Griffith Park Holiday Light Festival. - This magnificent display of lights along a one-mile segment of Crystal Springs Drive has become a holiday tradition that attracts more than half million visitors each year.
This festival symbolizes LADWP's proud history and shared legacy of service to the people of the city. It is also made possible through the generous support of the Department of Recreation and Parks, the Los Angeles Visitors and Convention Bureau (LA Inc.), the Los Angeles Department of Transportation, the Los Angeles Zoo, the Los Angeles World Airports, Museum of the American West, Automobile Club of Southern California, Hoy Newspaper and CalTrans.
The Holiday Light Festival began over a decade ago, under the leadership of the late City Council President John Ferraro, who represented the 4th Council District, which included Griffith Park. Ferraro strongly supported the creation of the spectacular lighting display as a legacy holiday gift for the people of the City of Los Angeles.
It was Ferraro’s hope that this spectacular winter wonderland would become an annual holiday tradition, especially for the children of Southern California. In the years since the first “Light Festival,” those hopes have been realized. The LADWP Holiday Light festival has grown into one of the most exciting and popular light festivals in the country.
